How to Add A Historic Place
Anyone can add content to this website and is encouraged to add information, even if it is not complete. The strength of this database is with the information that people already have on historic places within the local area that may not be readily known by others. The more people who add content to this project, the more useful this database will become for people interested in historic places.
Four easy steps to adding a historic place:
1. Search for the name of the historic place you want to add to make sure that the historic place is not already in the database. Search variations of the name to make sure it is not listed under an alternative name. The search bar at the top of the page searches the entire database at one time.
2. If the historic place is not already in the database, then click on the "Add a Historic Place" button located at the top of the page, next to the search bar. Or click here.
3. Fill out each of the fields in the Name, Location, Description, Significance, and Documentation tabs. Add as much information as you know.
4. Click on the "Add to HPDB" button. This saves the information to the database.
Don't be afraid to add information. The database is set up in a way that adding and removing content can be corrected at any time, so that if you make a mistake it is easily correctable.
